For a recent lunch out with my mom and sister, I wore this casual, sparkly winter outfit. The sweatshirt has beautiful sequins and embroidery details by Love Sam. I was at Marshall’s and looking through the clearance rack and ran across it. It was regular $50 and I got it for $15. I absolutely love when I get bargains like this.
Embroidered Sweatshirt with Gray Jeans
The gray jeans were also a great find and I decided they would be perfect with this top. They have just a few sequins on them which tie in with the top. They also have the frayed ends which I love.

As we start this new year, I ran across this quote that really resonated with me.
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new” Socrates.
It made me think how much I fight old thoughts and fears instead of concentrating on what I truly want and ways to go about it. I try so hard to think positive but realize that we all have our ups and downs. But to truly make changes in my life, I need to put my focus on the present and the future and learn from my mistakes and move on. I think that is really my only resolution for the new year and just doing that will improve all aspects of my life. Here’s to a wonderful 2018!!
Plaid Wool Skirt
I was able to start part of my new year visiting my brother in Florida along with my sister and mother. We had such a great time exploring the area. It was beautiful but cold so I chose this plaid wool skirt to wear with black tights.
Cold Weather Layering
I layered this Jessica Simpson black wool vest with faux fur trim over a burgundy tee. The rhinestone and pearl tee is from Loft.

Saturday I attended the Wreaths Across America with my mother and sister at the Alabama National Cemetery. Both my father and uncle are vets and are buried there. It was such an honor to be able to place a Christmas wreath at both of their graves. The cemetery looked so beautiful with all of the greenery and red bows. It was very peaceful and we just spent some time at the grave sites and shared memories. We were very fortunate to have nice weather that day so I dressed in layers. I added this Lucky Brand shawl sweater over a black turtleneck from Ann Taylor and it was perfect.
Black Patent Booties
The black patent booties are Franco Sarto which I wear quite often. For the accessories, I added a leather necklace with gray pearls.

Winter hit big time this past Friday in Atlanta. More snow than I have ever seen here. It was beautiful, but one day is enough for me and then I’m over it. By Sunday the roads were pretty clear so we met some friends for dinner at Muss & Turners in Smyrna. Since it was still so cold I pulled out my faux fur vest and wore it with a gray turtleneck sweater. I love the black and gray colors of the vest and the back is a sweater. It was perfect for such a wintry day!
I chose this wine colored necklace with silver accents to wear with the gray sweater. Even though I don’t like winter, I do like winter clothes. Layering provides so many more options. I always found layering difficult but now love coming up with many variations of outfits!
These are my favorite pair of distressed jeans that I wear quite often. And the
black suede booties are Vince Camuto.
Muss & Turners was nice and cozy and we all had a great time celebrating birthdays!

It’s that time of the year again to start shopping for gifts. I’ve put together some gifts for the women in your life. Also, a lot of these would make great hostess gifts when going to friends or relatives homes for dinner. Or maybe you are going to stay with someone over the holidays and need something special to gift them.
There are also some wine glasses for the wine lovers on your list. The Flocking Ridiculous glasses are so much fun!
Journals are a good gift, I know I always look for the cutest ones, where even the cover inspires me.

Candles are always a great gift so I’ve included some with scents that are a little different. I pretty much love anything sea salt scented, so this Henri Bendel candle takes me back to my favorite place, the beach.
And for your fashionistas I’ve picked some cute scarves and gloves. Cashmere gloves are a great choice at $49. The leopard print gloves are another great pick. Leopard always elevates style in an outfit and these are just enough without being too much. Velvet is such a popular trend and these red ones are so festive for the holidays.
These trays are in my guest rooms and my bedroom on the nightstands for holding jewelry. I love to have them for my guests because I always tend to misplace my jewelry when traveling. The Hey Friend would make a fun gift.
