It’s that time of the year again to start shopping for gifts. I’ve put together some gifts for the women in your life. Also, a lot of these would make great hostess gifts when going to friends or relatives homes for dinner. Or maybe you are going to stay with someone over the holidays and need something special to gift them.
There are also some wine glasses for the wine lovers on your list. The Flocking Ridiculous glasses are so much fun!
Journals are a good gift, I know I always look for the cutest ones, where even the cover inspires me.

Candles are always a great gift so I’ve included some with scents that are a little different. I pretty much love anything sea salt scented, so this Henri Bendel candle takes me back to my favorite place, the beach.
And for your fashionistas I’ve picked some cute scarves and gloves. Cashmere gloves are a great choice at $49. The leopard print gloves are another great pick. Leopard always elevates style in an outfit and these are just enough without being too much. Velvet is such a popular trend and these red ones are so festive for the holidays.
These trays are in my guest rooms and my bedroom on the nightstands for holding jewelry. I love to have them for my guests because I always tend to misplace my jewelry when traveling. The Hey Friend would make a fun gift.

This year for my Thanksgiving tablescape I decided to use vibrant fall colors. In years past I’ve done more monochromatic but like to switch it up from year to year. I chose yellows, orange, peach and natural wood elements in my floral arrangements.
My Favorite Holiday Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I absolutely love decorating for it. Most of my family comes for dinner and it is so nice to have everyone together. My brother lives in Florida so I don’t get to see him often. My mom now divides her time between mine and my sister’s house. It’s really bittersweet because my father and father in law died a few years back and we miss them so much. Change is the one constant but sometimes it is so hard to accept. I just cherish the time I do get to spend with my loved ones now and always get a little depressed when everyone leaves.
I love green flowers so had to add them to the arrangement. Hydrangeas are another favorite, but I don’t use them too often because they don’t seem to last very long. To add a little more depth I added the beautiful burgundy flowers.
Orange and green drip less candles add to the festive feel. I purchased them last year marked down at Target.
Traditional colors dominate the center basket with yellows, oranges and browns. My father loved birds so I always like to add that element and love the natural fabrics.
This arrangement I did for my powder room with the peach rose that stands out.
I’m loving all of the colors of fall and there were so many pretty colors at an open house I recently went to. It was at Scottsdale Farms in Milton, GA. My sister works there so my mom and I visited for the afternoon. The weather was a bit dreary with light rain and cool. But inside was so nice and inviting with all of the Christmas decorations. A fall leopard print sweater and black leggings was the perfect thing to wear to keep warm, along with a glass of wine:)
Black Quilted Boots.
I had bought these quilted boots a while back that are perfect for a rainy day and I just added a Calvin Klein scarf to keep warm.
They had the prettiest plant arrangements. I love how colorful they are, especially in fall and winter when things get so dreary.
Pansies have some of the most beautiful colors and I love the way they blend.
These are the adorable goats they have for the children to feed. They also have pigs and cows and certain at certain times of the year bring in other animals for a petting zoo.
I recently bought this little accent leopard print pillow for my master bedroom. I’ve had this bedding that I use in the winter time for a couple of years now. I like it but just wanted a something to make it look different.
Leopard Print Accent
Leopard print always stands out. But I almost always use it as an accent because too much of it can be overwhelming. Soon I’ll switch to my spring & summer bedding. But for right now, I’ll be satisfied with this. I found the pillow at HomeGoods for $17.00. I also got the yellow accents pillows from there. The duvet, pillow shams and gray quilt are from Target. The euro shams from Stein Mart are zippered to make washing them easy. I also use the euro shams in the summer.
I got these flowers marked down at a grocery store and put together this pretty winter floral arrangement. While they had many different color of arrangements, for some reason, I just have a thing for green flowers. Love them mixed with white or pink. There are many varieties of the bark covered vases, I have five or six various sizes. Because I like them so much, I knew I had to have this one I found on a getaway to Highlands, North Carolina. My husband and I went into an adorable little flower and gift shop and I saw this and had to purchase it. It has several different cylinders, with three of them having test tubes in them for water for fresh flowers. In addition, I put dried natural stems in the other cylinders.
Brighten up with winter floral arrangement
Since these marked down flowers are inexpensive, I like to buy them in the winter to brighten up the house. While they might not last long, they make me smile when I see them. Also, I like to put fresh flowers in my guest bedrooms when relatives and friends visit.
I always love the start of the new year. A time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished in the last year and plan our goals for the new year. I am definitely reinventing myself this year. I have started this new fashion and design blog and I am beginning my training as a real estate agent this month. I am taking a leap of faith and turning my passions into my careers. I started as an accountant and then had my own interior decorating company for many years. I am so looking forward to helping clients with staging and selling their homes and helping them find their dream homes. I also absolutely love fashion and don’t think that it should end at a certain age. I get asked often where I shop so I look forward to sharing my outfits and advice on where to shop for the best deals. I love duplicating a high end look with affordable pieces.
So with my new 2017 planner and notebook full of ideas, I plan on setting new goals and mapping out a successful, happy year and I hope you can do the same.
Guest rooms all ready for my family on Thanksgiving!
I am in the process of transitioning from Thanksgiving decorating to Christmas. I haven’t decorated much for Christmas in the last couple of years but will do so this year since my family will be staying with me. I’m excited about getting out all of my decorations and planning the menu’s. Before I post pictures of my Christmas season, I want to share my Thanksgiving tablescapes from this year and the past two years. The light orange pumpkins above were actually grown by us. We had a vine start growing in the summertime and had no idea what it was. So we waited and harvested four pumpkins in time for Thanksgiving this year.
